More about "Missions to fill urgently"...
The so-called « Emergency » missions are those where the local partner urgently needs training, or because the departure is approaching and the group is not finalized yet, or because the profile for the volunteer is difficult for us to find.
All of the above are reasons which make such missions a priority as compared to other missions on-line on our website.
More about "Platforms and other countries"...
Planète Urgence today has 4 « platforms »: Benin, Cameroon, Mali and Madagascar. In these four countries, 4 national delegates (expatriate personnel or local) are working full-time for Planète Urgence. They manage on a daily basis and directly on-site, the various partnerships with local associations and the logistics of our missions.
In other countries where Planète Urgence intervenes - Burkina Faso, India, Indonesia, French Polynesia, Argentina, Djibouti, Zimbabwe - we are working with national representatives, or local individuals who work for specific organisations (NGOs, associations) of the country. Otherwise, we work directly with local partner associations. These representatives play the same role as national delegates, except for the fact that they don’t work directly for Planète Urgence : the logistics of the missions and the management of our partnerships are part of their daily activities in their work.
Whether the chosen mission is part of a platform or a country, it matters little: all our missions are useful, the motivation of our local partners is the same, the reception is alway warm and the 14 days of the mission are always « enriching » both for the volunteer and for the local population.
More about "Competence areas"...
Planète Urgence proposes 3 types of missions : « development » missions, which involve adult training and an educational emphasis, and « eco-volunteer » missions which are oriented towards environmental protection.
The development missions are accessible to adults (age 18 and over) having professional and/or personal competence with regards to the mission that they have applied for. Adult training sessions involve 14-day missions where the volunteers meet the training needs in very specific areas: pc training, accounting, human resources, cooking, hair dressing, web site creation, etc. Of course, 14 days go quickly, but the missions are followed up by new missions. As long as the local partner considers that the objectives regarding training know-how have not been achieved, the mission remains valid, and of course, it is updated with regards to the content of previous missions. Missions with an educational emphasis aim to stimulate reading for young children, generally 7 or 8 years old (but there can be exceptions). The objective is to stimulate the desire to read and to master the French language. Techniques used for school aid include book animation workshops, theater, singing, etc., in permanent schools and in mobile « bush » schools, libraries and hospitals.
For any registrations for educational missions, the mission coordinator will ask for your resumé showing your professional background and your personal competence with regards to the mission. In addition to the resumé, you will have an interview with a psychologist from the “Etap Paris Psy” association. This interview is mandatory since it validates or invalidates your departure.
For development missions, a resumé will also be requested. The resumé will be sent to the local partner who will validate the mission departure for all volunteers. Certain development missions necessitate an interview with a psychologist of the “Etap Paris Psy” association. This will be decided ahead of time by the mission coordinator.
Eco-volunteer missions last for 2 to 3 weeks, depending on where the mission will take place. Volunteers will come to support local teams who are working on environmental protection, whether aquatic or terrestrial. These missions are available for volunteers aged 16 and over. No particular competence is required: the training takes place on-site by the partner during the first days of the mission.
