Created in 1991 by Afnor (French Association for normalisation), the NF environmental label awards mass consumption products (except for food items, drinks and pharmaceutical products) whose environmental impact for the entire cycle is reduced. |

La Fleur is a European label which was created in an attempt to homogenize the multitude of labels certified in Europe (NF Environnement, Blue Angel for Germany, White Swan in the nordic countries). It is slightly less exacting than the NF Environnement label. |

The AB label (Organic Agriculture) is attributed by the Agricultural Ministry to products which are at least 95% organic, using none or very few pesticides. This is a very exacting label, and farmers are audited by independent certification entities on a regular basis. |

The European Organic Label was created in the year 2000. It ensures that a product conforms to European regulations, imposing respect of natural balance (absence of pesticides, chemical fertilization, and GMOs). In order to obtain this label, farmers must also respect biodiversity of the earth and allow for savings in fossil energies. |

The MSC lebel (Marine Stewardship Council) was created by Unilever (number 1 purchasor worldwide of sea products) and the WWF to reward fisheries for responsible practices and to guarantee consumers that they are not contributing to the extinction of a species by making a purchase. |

This label recompenses 80% of equitable products sold n France. It guarantees production according to the principle of durable development and that the producers receive fair remuneration. |

WWF and Greenpeace created FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) in 1993, which certifies that wood comes from a durable exploitation of forests. Every year, audits are carried out to ensure that biodiversity is respected as well as social rights. Carrefour, Castorama, Leroy-Merlin, Casa, Nature & Decouvertes commercialize certain of their wooden products using this label. Don't hesitate to question the salesmen to ensure that the product you purchase has this label. |

The PEFC label (Pan European Forest Certification) was created in 2001 by an industrial group specialized in wood to counter-balance the FSC. It guarantees durable forest management, but is less exacting than the former. |

The EU supports this label which was launched by the American agency for Environmental protection (EPA). It guarantees lower consumption of energy than the average on a number of IT equipment, whether on standby mode or in active use. |
